Kenyon-Wanamingo Schools

Independent School District 2172, the K-W Knights: one PreK–12 campus at 400 6th Street since fall 2025, about 66 staff, a seven-member board, and a full activities program in MSHSL Class 1A.

Kenyon-Wanamingo Public Schools serve Kenyon, Wanamingo and the surrounding townships. Since the 2025–26 year every grade is on the Kenyon campus (main line 507-789-6186, district office 507-789-7001). High school enrollment is about 258; the district competes in the Hiawatha Valley League in black, red and silver. Superintendent Patrick Heiderscheit, 507-789-7000. Elementary principal Carrie Anderson, 507-789-7017. Community Education (Shanna Westlund, 507-789-7005) runs Knights Kids childcare, Little Knights preschool, ECFE and adult basic education. The K-W Education Foundation (est. 1998) funds classroom extras.
