Kenyon's city rate is high for the county because the tax base is small: about $1.8 million of net tax capacity carries a $1.5 million levy. A $200,000 homesteaded house pays about $1,450 to the city and about $2,850 in total. Estimate any value with the tax estimator. The council's own audit shows the general fund's unassigned balance falling from 68 percent of expenditures in 2020 to 16.8 percent in 2025 against a 40 percent policy, after four years of spending over budget; the 2027 levy increase and a proposed in-house finance director are the response.
