About
The Chicago Great Western depot (about 1885) was moved to the old Brandvold Tile Factory lot beside the pool in 1974 and is the town's rentable shelter: $75 rent plus a $50 deposit, 46 chairs, eleven 8-foot tables, a microwave, sink and restroom. Around it: the playground, the killer hill for sledding, eight picnic tables (first come, first served), two timber picnic shelters built in 2026 by K-W construction students with a $10,000 SMIF grant, and the pool next door. National Night Out, the Easter egg hunt, Trunk or Treat, Art in the Park and the Rose Fest Saturday all happen here. A 2024 master plan from Minnesota State University, Mankato and the 2025–26 Empowering Small Minnesota Cities program aim at ADA upgrades, shade, a walking loop and a trail across the Zumbro from Trondheim Park.
