Public records, meetings and data requests

How to get city records under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, what is already online, and what the police charge for reports.

Everything the city creates is government data under Minn. Stat. 13.03, public unless a statute makes it private. You do not need to give a reason to ask for it.

Already online, no request needed

  • Council packets, agendas and minutes 2019–2026 at cityofkenyon.gov/agendas-minutes; this site indexes all of them by year on the meetings page.

  • City audits 2016–2025 at cityofkenyon.gov/finance.

  • Property records: parcels, values, taxes and payments are county data, searchable at publicaccess.goodhuecountymn.gov and on this site's property lookup.

Making a request

  • City records: write to the city administrator (the responsible authority), info@cityofkenyon.gov or 709 2nd Street. Describe the record; a date range and department help. The city may charge $0.25 per page for copies and, for requests over 100 pages, staff time.
  • Police records: use the Police Data Request form. A police or fire report costs $35. Active investigative data is confidential until the case closes.
  • EDA minutes: by email to todd.kieffer@cedausa.com; they are not posted.
  • Depot Park bookings, utility account history and similar ledgers are held at City Hall and released on request, with private data (account numbers, some personal identifiers) redacted.

Open meetings

Under the Open Meeting Law (Minn. Stat. 13D) the council and every board and commission meet in public with posted notice. Closed sessions are limited to labor negotiations, certain personnel matters, attorney-client privilege on litigation and real-estate negotiations, and must be announced; the record shows closed sessions on Jan. 28, 2026 (Rebound), Dec. 9, 2025 and June 30, 2025 (personnel).
